Danielle Tate, founder of Thrive Ministries, is passionate about sharing her message of restoration with women of all ages. Danielle began a blog in 2010, and after a bit of time went by, she and two other bloggers wrote a cookbook together.
That’s the first time that she saw that there was money to be made online. In 2015, she felt the call to get more serious about her online space, so she rebranded and began to write with more purpose and focus. Her book on sexual purity, Restoring the Lost Petal, is newly released! (see the coupon code included below)
Writing on Sensitive Topics
Danielle jokes that she writes about the 2 topics that nobody else wants to touch- sex and money. And while she is honest and writes very transparently, she knows not to expect the same type of feedback that other bloggers may get.
That held her back for a long time. Having other bloggers with lots of comments and followers talk about having viral posts made her doubt whether she could do this. She felt like she was doing something wrong for a while. People don’t feel as free to comment or share when the topic is so personal.
Changing Lives
Because she wasn’t going to have the same amount of engagement as other bloggers, she had to know what would make her feel like she was making a difference.
She made the decision that if she could change just one life, she would be okay with that. Now, when she feels in over her head, the Lord is faithful to send someone to her who either encourages her or asks for help.
Danielle speaks to teen girls on a regular basis, and hearing back from those girls months or even years later is sometimes all the motivation she needs to keep on going.
She calls writing her book, Restoring the Lost Petal, “worse than having a baby.” There were times she wasn’t even sure she liked it. She was tired of the process. But knowing how much women needed the message of this book, she kept plugging along.

Creating Products to Sell
Online business is not just about blogging. Writing books or creating your own products are also ways to earn income online. When Danielle began writing her book, she started with just an outline from a speaking engagement she had done for teen girls.
When creating products to sell, the first thing you need to do is ask yourself what you know about and can talk about. Because she had been writing about and speaking on the topic of sexual purity, Danielle had her topic already outlined. What do have first-hand knowledge of? What types of situations have you walked through, or are walking through now?
One of the pitfalls people fall into is thinking they have to be the complete expert…have the PhD. on something…to be able to talk about it. And that’s not necessarily the case. You are enough of an expert once you have walked as far through your situation as you have. ~Danielle Tate
Secondly, you need to allow people into your work whose advice you value, and who really know you. Don’t worry about pleasing everyone; just have a couple of people you can trust who will give you valuable feedback on your work.
The positive opinions of others are not a pre-requisite for success. @thedanielletate #restoringthelostpetal #lostpetal #sexualpurity #brightfuture #foryoursuccess #paradisepraises
Making Your Dreams a Reality
Danielle has some advice for you if you are struggling to make your dreams reality:
- Be certain of your calling and stick with it.
- Don’t let discouragement catch you off guard.
- Don’t be afraid to make mistakes.
- Remember that the biggest, most successful bloggers make mistakes. Don’t be afraid to make mistakes, and don’t let those things get in the way of moving forward.
- Network with others. Talk to others who have been where you are and get some of your questions answered. Make yourself available to your readers.
Everyone has a different perspective, so even if someone else is very successful in your niche, don’t let that hold you back. You have a unique story and someone needs to hear it from your point of view.
Comparison kills contentment. ~Katie Hornor
Seeing Success in Lives Touched
Danielle’s definition of success is
touching lives and seeing people live freely.
If the people she interacts with are better off after leaving her, then she has been successful. Seeing someone change and better themselves is what makes her feel successful.
